MapSend WorldWide Basemap software enables you to create a basemap for any region of the world and upload it to your mapping Magellan GPS receiver.

Adding WorldWide basemaps to your Magellan GPS receiver does not erase your built-in basemap -- it enables you to add basic reference map coverage for areas not covered by the built-in map.

New basemaps can be loaded and saved via a PC to GPS cable from your PC to your Magellan Meridian series handheld (requires an optional Secure Digital (SD) memory card), directly to the SD card using a card reader/writer, or directly to the memory of your Magellan SporTrak Pro, SporTrak Map or MAP 330 GPS receiver. WorldWide Basemap is licensed for use with a single designated Magellan GPS receiver; when you upload a basemap you must assign the receiver's internal serial number.

WorldWide Basemap shows country borders, major highways and roads, coastlines, major lakes and rivers, cities, railroads, train stations and ferry lines. WorldWide Basemap also contains basic topographic contours that provides a good estimate of terrain for long distance travel without taking up too much memory. Topo contours can help you stay oriented to your environment and find Points of Interest. In addition to the visual map presentation, the map features can be located using tabular search functions - on the GPS as well as in the PC application.

You can easily switch between the built-in basemap and a WorldWide Basemap on your GPS through the menu on the GPS. Your Magellan GPS receiver will automatically transition to a detailed map when the zoom scale is 0.4 miles or less and the majority of the displayed is covered by the map. A self installing patch can be downloaded from the Magellan website to add the ability to make Worldwide Basemap regions for eXplorist 400, 500, 600 and eXplorist XL GPS receivers. Can also be used with the Magellan Meridian series, SporTrak Map, SporTrak Pro, or MAP 330 GPS receiver.
