Remote Safety & Work/Travel Alone GPS

GPS is a navigational tool for remote areas and roads; see, in particular, northern Alberta and BC map software options (e.g. PatchMap on SD card, Rocanda LSD on SD card), as well as topographical maps for GPS and laptops. Avoid getting lost or down time! There are cost effective options for contacting base and communicating with the office or home. Whether it's an emergency or just confirmation of your status and location, at arranged time intervals, several products do assist remote safety in the winter. It can be a big, risk management advantage.

If you or your employees are frequently out of cell phone range, check our satellite phones with low monthly prepaid cards, the SPOT Satellite Messenger <<< Free $50 VISA Gift Card with Purchase! (Oct 29 - Dec 31, 2009) and Fast Find (waterproof beacon). You can check more PLB's personal locator beacon options here! You also may be interested in the new SPOT 2, a smaller *intrinsically safe* model.

Also, Garmin Rino GPS models include 2-way radio capacity. Rinos offer you easy communication, up to 22 km range, between parties. For wider ranges, check our great line of Motorola 2-way radios here (no GPS), 23-40 km ranges. For lengthy outdoor use in the cold, push button handsets like the Garmin 60/70 series or Rinos are preferrable to touchscreen GPS models, e.g. Garmin Dakota and Oregon, in case your fingers are 'frozen' or if you're wearing gloves. Apple has been working on touchscreen-friendly gloves (patent filed June 28, 2007)!

Waterproof & Unsinkable...

Gotta love it. The Garmin 70 series GPS handsets for all types of boating, the map-happy navigators. The difference with this map is, you're in it! Thinking of ice fishing, ATVing, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, skiing (models with barometric altimeter! see how high you go!), ice climbing ... and international travel. See the IPX Waterproof Specification guide for extra details.

If you want to start geocaching...

It's a fun and engaging activity, similar to orienteering. Please check here for more information.
