Paul's
European Travels with his GPS V,
MetroGuide Europe and
Roads &
Recreation Europe "I have to say that the MetroGuide maps are pretty impressive. There are a few map corrections that I could make here and there, but the guidance and detail are very good indeed. The AutoRoute on the PC feature also works very well. Hope you enjoy this first batch and I'll be sure and add many more as my "European travelogue" continues. My next trips include Czech Republic, Turkey, Italy, St-Tropez, Russia, Saudi Arabia and as many others as I can cram in. My GPS V from GPS Central will be in my kit all the time!" |

July 18: "Here are a few more shots from my recent peregrinations. I've also added a small piece that you could use with the European User Report should you wish. Thanks for the favour of my "spot" on your site; I have several friends and a very happy Mother who track me on YOUR site! Hope it's good for business!" [Hello to Paul's mother from GPS Central!] |
"Taken midway during the spectacular 40-minute rotation of this new, almost famous London landmark. BTW, it is known as an "observation wheel" and NOT a Ferris wheel! The view is simply outstanding, from both ends of the capsule. If you ever get to London, try not to miss this "uplifting" experience." |
"This is possibly one of the most famous London sights, and I can report that I checked his timekeeping against that of my GPS V from GPS Central. He's pretty good! I now have his coordinates stored for my next trip to London!" |
"We had stopped for a picnic by the side of the road and I noticed the background of the mountains behind us - perfect for a quick picture. All roads near Innsbruck have a spectacular view like this one around every corner." |
|
"Taken at the beautiful Linderhof castle in the Bavarian Alps. The Temple of Venus looks back over the castle grounds and is an excellent place for contemplating life while on vacation. I sat for a minute and thought that a GPS shot was needed." |
"This is one of the actual Safety Cars that are used in Formula 1 races; the other was on the track that weekend at the European Grand Prix. Look carefully and you can see the scrapes from the racetrack under the right front corner. It is a beautiful vehicle that exudes power and speed, even standing still." |
"This statue of Juan Manuel Fangio had been unveiled in the crowded Nurburgring midway just 2 days before this picture was taken. Fangio remains one of my heroes, and it was special indeed for me to get this picture at the European Grand Prix." |
"Taken on the Pont de la Concorde where the view of the Eiffel Tower and its surroundings is great. This is a very busy spot for picture takers; there is often a line-up!" |
|
"Inside the Courtyard at the Presidential Palace. It is an ornate, simply stunning place to visit, and well worth the walk to get there. Note the flag in the upper right, indicating that the President was in fact at home; he did not invite us in for a drink!" |
"Photo 3 is my favourite. It was taken on the always-crowded Charles Bridge, with the famous Prague Castle in the background. Prague is an absolutely beautiful city, with hundreds of things to see and do. I would recommend it very strongly to any traveller." |
"At the Czech Army Museum. There are many very well done exhibits inside, but this T-34 tank outside provided one of the better backgrounds. "
|
"Paul and Matterhorn" was taken in Zermatt. The mountains give up their best views only grudgingly, and she was not ready to expose herself fully that day." |
|
"In Chateau d'Oex, at the top of the La Braye cable car. I had hiked up the hill and posed for a few pix against the marvelous background."
|
"In Montreux, not far from the famous "Freddy
Mercury statue"* that commemorates the late rocker's affiliation
with the town. Lake Geneva and the Alps are in the background."

"Taken on the famous Dublin "Hop-on, Hop-off" Bus Tour. You can take all day on this 16-stop tour if you like, getting off and back on at your leisure. With sassy, singing drivers who tell you about even the naughtier bits of Dublin, this is a must-do for any visitor to the city. You see far more than you would any other way, for a very reasonable price, and you get entertained in the bargain." |
"Still on the Tour bus, but with the famous St Patrick's Cathedral in the background. There is a sweet park right beside the cathedral which would be perfect for a Spring stroll or even a picnic. If you get to Dublin, check it out! I'll even send you the lat/long from my GPS Central GPS V if you like!" |
