The
GPSMAP 182 and GPSMAP 182C boast greater accuracy, higher-resolution
displays, a built-in world-wide
basemap and much more.
A
unique design feature of these products is quick map redraws using a high speed
RISC processor, providing rapid zooming and panning functions. Detailed marine
cartography is presented on the GPSMAP 182's 5.5" diagonal, high resolution
FSTN (240 x 360 pixels), 10-level grayscale display, or on the GPSMAP 182C's 5.0"
diagonal, sunlight readable, high resolution (234 x 320 pixels), 16-colour TFT
display.
With
a built-in worldwide
basemap, both GPSMAP 182 models will be fully compatible with
GARMIN's new BlueChart marine cartography and many MapSource CD-ROM
products. BlueChart and MapSource detail will be loaded onto GARMIN
data cards.

Positional
accuracy up to three meters in the United States and portions of Canada and Mexico
is now standard thanks to compatibility with the Wide Area Augmentation System
(WAAS). WAAS enhances the accuracy and integrity of global positioning receivers
through a system of ground stations and geosyncronous satellites. The GPSMAP 182
and GPSMAP 182C also accept RTCM-104 differential corrections.
