LDG Electronics AT-897Plus Automatic Antenna Tuners mount on the side of your FT-897, just like the original equipment. LDG even added the ability to mount the “feet” on the side of the tuners, so that when you are transporting your rig by the handle, you can safely and securely set it down and not worry about scratching the case.
AT-897Plus tuners are microprocessor-controlled and feature the tuning ability that customers have come to expect from LDG products. These tuners have a front panel button to automatically initiate the tuning sequence with the transceiver; first by lowering the RF power to 25 watts, then tuning. The same “TUNE” button will bypass the tuner if depressed only momentarily. A red LED illuminates while the tuner is active.
AT-897Plus tuners take their control and power input directly from the CAT output port of the FT-897 (at 4,800 baud) and provide a second CAT port on the back of the tuners. That way, if you are using another CAT device, installation couldn’t be easier.
If you are a QRP enthusiast or plan on operating via internal batteries, LDG’s AT-897Plus is your tuner! The AT-897Plus tuners do not need a fan, let alone one that is constantly running. Current consumption when tuned is in the micro-amp range. Since LDG uses latching relays, you can even remove power from the tuner after you have tuned on the band you are going to operate.
