SOFTWARE FOR GLIDERS Garmin GPS models
with a barometric altimeter offer several software features
intended to simplify navigation, competition and record keeping
in a variety of gliding sports. By visiting
the GARMIN web site customers with older systems may download
this free software update for their eTrex
Vista, GPSMAP 60CS, GPSMAP
76S, GPSMAP
76CS or VistaC. The
Glide Ratio and Glide Ratio to Destination
feature uses GPS altimeter functions to help competitors determine
if they can reach their target without passing a point of
no return. The Vertical Speed to Destination features
uses GPS altimeter functions to recommend the optimal speed
to reach a checkpoint in a gliding time trial. Additionally,
the manual route transition feature helps users to maintain
an active leg to a checkpoint. They will see an arrow pointing
them in the direction they need to make their next checkpoint
and also allow them to automatically or manually transition
to the next checkpoint. |
